Football teams invited to enter the London Hospitality Festival

Hospitality industry employees inspired by the World Cup are being invited to enter a football team at the London Hospitality Festival.

Now in its 10th year, the London Hospitality Festival (formerly the Hotel and Catering Challenge Cup) includes the largest hospitality football tournament in the country, with some 80 teams from the industry competing.

Taking place on Sunday 9 September at King's House Sports Ground, Chiswick, this year's event will be the biggest ever, with live music, food stalls and activities for children alongside a softball competition, 5km fun run and football tournament.

The football competition attracts 80 teams from across hospitality and has grown into a free family day out that features a children's football academy, bouncy castle and face painting.

So far teams from Park Plaza, Firmdale, Las Iguanas and Sketch are among those that have registered to play.

Park Plaza Hotels regional general manager Daniel Pedreschi said: "Training is already underway for five separate Park Plaza Hotel teams, who are all looking forward to joining in what is going to be the biggest and best festival so far.

"It is a fantastic day out for all of our team members and their families and the addition of the softball tournament and colour run will make a great day even better.

"We are looking forward to raising even more funds for our chosen charity, Hospitality Action and the Park Plaza team will run the newly introduced ball pit sprinting track, where general managers will race against the clock to raise funds for such a worthwhile charity."

HACCC organiser Paul Gilley added: "It's exciting that the London Hospitality Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

"The event has grown into an all-day live music festival specifically for London hotels and restaurant staff. What's more, it's free to attend.

"We'll be hosting 3000 hospitality staff for a giant party in the park and raising money for Hospitality Action while we do it. I urge everyone to take part and bring their families for what will be a fantastic day."
