BrewDog sees revenue grow by 55% following US launch

BrewDog saw revenue grow by 55% to £111.6m in 2017 as it set its ship on course for world domination. 

Gross profit for the punk brewery and bar operator rose to £37.6m from £24.8m the previous year. Despite this, pre-tax profits fell from £3.8m to £1.4m.

The year had seen rapid expansion for BrewDog who grew their portfolio of bars to 46 globally, saw UK sales increase by 78% and opened a brewery in Ohio launching their first beers to the American market.

That expansion looks set to continue with the DogHouse hotel expected to be completed in Colombus this year, a brewery in Brisbane, Australia, planned to launch by 2019 and a search for a site in Asia underway.

The company continued to utilise crowdfunding raising $7m in the US and £10m in the UK, but also raised £213m from private equity firm TSG Consumer Partners in exchange for a 22.3% stake in the business.
