Rick Stein Group's work with schools and colleges recognised by award

The Rick Stein group has clinched the Large Employer of the Year award at the Careers and Enterprise Company Annual Awards.

The awards celebrate inspirational work done by schools and colleges, employers, volunteers and careers professionals around England.

The Rick Stein Group was recognised for its work with students from years five to 11, which is aimed at teaching young people transferable business and life skills.

The group also runs business days, which see youngsters open and run a Rick Stein company for a day, as well as science days, during which the group use cookery to explain scientific processes.

The group also offers work experience placements across the business, with one former attendee now leading her own kitchen.

The celebrity chef said: "We are thrilled to have been recognised for our work in supporting young people through placements and job opportunities alongside equipping them with the right skills, and importantly the confidence they need to achieve their goals. This work is so valuable and incredibly important to me as the hospitality industry, that I so much enjoy working in, is a force for good not only in the UK but everywhere."
