Gold Service Scholarship to open for nominations on 3 September

The Gold Service Scholarship has announced that the nomination period for its 2019 award will open on 3 September 2018.

Employees have been asked to encourage their front of house staff to put themselves forward for the prestigious award, the recipient of which is given the chance to hone their craft through a series of mentoring, travel and placement opportunities.

Nominees must be between 22 and 28-years-old on Monday 1 October and will complete two written tasks when submitting their entry.

Alastair Storey, scholarship chairman, said: "It's brilliant that the hospitality industry has become a global benchmark, and it is really heartening that so many top employers support the Gold Service Scholarship.

"It is vital that we attract, nurture and develop talented young people who can see the great career opportunities that exist in front-of-house. I urge all employers to encourage their teams to enter."

The 2018 scholar was Michael Staub, of the Rosewood Hotel Group, who will complete stages at a Mandarin Oriental Hotel, the Waterside Inn and Buckingham Palace.

The nomination period will run from 3 September to 1 October.
