Hilton opens its first tri-branded hotel

Hilton has opened its first tri-branded hotel at the largest convention centre in North America: Chicago’s McCormick Place.

Managed by First Hospitality Group (FHG), the 23-storey property comprises 184 Hilton Garden Inn rooms, 187 Hampton Inn rooms and 95 Home2 suites, and a skybridge connecting the hotel to McCormick Place.

The hotel also has an indoor pool, a 24-hour business centre and 10 event/meeting spaces totalling nearly 7,000 square feet, as well as a rooftop dining and lounge experience, VU Skyward Bev & Eat, and the Fatpour Tapworks street-level pub and grill, both of which are due to open in the autumn.

Bill Duncan, global head, all suites and focused service category, Hilton, said bringing together the three brands under one roof provides “an innovative lodging option that fits a variety of travel needs and desired price points”.

FHG founder and chairman, Stephen Schwartz, added that the hotel is “a great option for guests travelling with larger groups or extended families, as everyone can stay under one roof despite having varied preferences on room type and price point”.

Hilton also announced that the 234-bedroom Habtoor Palace hotel in Dubai will be rebranded under its “upcoming” soft brand, LXR Hotels & Resorts.

LXR Hotels & Resorts was originally formed by Blackstone Real Estate Advisors in 2005 when it acquired Wyndham International. Most of the properties were rebranded in 2007 when Blackstone acquired Hilton. Blackstone announced it was selling its remaining stake in Hilton in May.

Details were not confirmed regarding future properties for the brand or if the brand would be launched in the UK.

A Hilton spokesperson said: “As we continue to diversify our luxury portfolio – building on the legacy of the Waldorf Astoria and Conrad brands – we have developed LXR, a luxury collection brand comprising of independent, iconic properties that maintain their own identity but are united by the benefits of the Hilton enterprise and the award-winning Honors program. We look forward to sharing more details about this exciting new brand in the coming weeks and months.”
