M Restaurants to launch flagship in Canary Wharf's new residential tower

M Restaurants will launch a new flagship site in Canary Wharf's Newfoundland development.

The almost 10,000sq ft multifaceted site, due to open in late 2020, will comprise a restaurant, grill, wine store and tasting room, as well as a cocktail bar and garden, private members lounge and private dining room.

From its location near the Thames, the flagship restaurant - the first private rental to put their name to the high profile new building - will cater to Canary Wharf's more than 100,000 workers, as well as tourists and the residents of the building's 636 apartments.

M, the brainchild of former Gaucho MD Martin Williams and Great British Menu chef Michael Reid, currently has sites in Victoria, St Pauls and Twickenham.

Williams said "Since we created M in 2014, we have opened three understated, hidden venues, which reflected the M brand during it's infancy.

"Since winning many awards and most importantly the patronage of so many fantastic discerning Londoners, we felt the timing was right to seek a truly iconic flagship venue.

"Canary Wharf Group's Newfoundland building will undoubtedly become a London landmark, so we are delighted to have exchanged leases on such an epic site."

Stuart Fyfe, head of retail leasing for the Canary Wharf Group added: "Newfoundland will shortly be both a dramatic and iconic addition to London's Skyline, providing 636 residential apartments for rent.

"The residents will be some of the first to actually live on the Canary Wharf estate. As such we required a high quality, successful restaurateur to work with us to deliver a relevant food offer within a contemporary modern environment which complements the buildings spectacular design.

"We believe M Restaurants will be a tremendous addition to the Canary Wharf restaurant offer appealing to residents, office workers, tourists and the ever growing weekend visitors alike. We all look forward to this flagship opening"
