Checking-In: LGBT+ network launches for hotel professionals

A lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender plus (LGBT+) network has been launched for hotel professionals, with the hope of later extending it to the wider hospitality industry.

Checking-In intends to provide a forum for individuals to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing them in the sector. It was founded by Liam Rezende, marketing communications for Europe, Middle East, Africa & South West Asia, Hyatt Hotels; Bruno Di Tommazi, senior regional sales manager, Avenue Sales & Marketing; Stefan Lechner, area director of sales at Dorsett Hospitality International; Will Davies, director at HBD Partners.

Rezende said that they had taken action because hospitality was one of the few industries which did not have a LGBT+ network.

"Our aim is to create an open and inclusive forum to meet and discuss issues impacting LGBT+ employees in their day-to-day work," he explained.

"We also want to enable the sharing of ideas and best practices between LGBT+ employee resource groups and networks and champion LGBT+ inclusion and equality throughout the hotel industry."

A launch event for Checking-In will be held at the Hotel Indigo Leicester Square, London, on 19 September. For further information and to register for the event, go to: www.linkedin.com/company/checking-in/
