Stewart Gilliland to step down from Mitchells and Butlers board

Pub group Mitchells and Butlers has announced that Stewart Gilliland will step down from his board position of senior independent director.

Gilliland has said he intends to focus on other roles as chairman of C&C Group plc and non-executive director of Tesco plc.

Mitchells and Butlers has said it has commenced the process of recruiting a replacement, and will confirm his departure date in due course.

Bob Ivell, non-executive chairman of Mitchells & Butlers, said: "Stewart has played a key role in the continued successful development of Mitchells & Butlers and has been a very valuable, supportive and extremely helpful member of our Board. We wish him every success in his other board roles."
