Point A to open hotels in Edinburgh and London Kensington

Budget-boutique brand Point A Hotels will open two new properties in 2019 in Edinburgh and London's Kensington.

Point A Edinburgh will be located close to Haymarket Station when it opens in June, with 149 bedrooms. Point A London Kensington, opening July, will feature 103 bedrooms in a new building with a retained late-Victorian façade on West Cromwell Road near Earl's Court station.

The brand was launched last year by joint venture company Raag Hotels and involved the rebranding of five London hotels trading under the Tune Hotels brand and the launch of new properties in London's Shoreditch and Glasgow.

Raag Hotels is a joint venture between affiliates of the Queensway Group, the Wellcome Trust and Fifty Seven 7. In addition to having been a franchisee of Tune Hotels, the Queensway Group owns and operates boutique hotel Montagu Place in London and manages 20 KFC restaurants and 13 Starbuck coffee shops across the UK.

The rebranding of the five hotels left only three properties operating in the UK in Liverpool, Newcastle and Edinburgh under the budget Tune brand. The Edinburgh and Newcastle properties have since been sold to the Edinburgh Collection and EasyHotel, respectively.
