Chef Andy Waters leaves Resorts World over "creative differences"
Chef Andy Waters has left his eponymous restaurant at Resorts World Birmingham just weeks before he was set open an expanded venue at the retail development.
Waters has operated Waters' Restaurant at Resorts World with his wife Beverley since it opened three years ago.
Next month, he had been due to head up the launch of Sky By Waters, which is to merge his restaurant with the adjacent Sky Bar, to created a revamped bar and restaurant complex.
But Resorts World today confirmed that Waters will leave the business over what it termed "creative differences".
Aaron Darnley, who currently leads the kitchen team at Waters Restaurant, will continue this role and will become head chef at the new Sky By Waters.
Darryl Collins, who this summer was a finalist in Channel 4's Bake Off: The Professionals, will continue to oversee and direct the pastry team at Resorts World, who will also feature as part of the new rooftop venue.
Ian Bennett, operations director of Resorts World, said: "I want to pay tribute to Andy and Beverley. For several decades Andy has been a pivotal component of the region's restaurant scene. He has built up a reputation for creating food that is memorable and innovative.
"For the past three years Andy has created a restaurant here at Resorts World that has played a major part in putting Resorts World on the culinary map. We are very grateful to Andy and Beverley for what they have achieved here and their contribution to our success. We wish Andy and Beverley every good wish for their future.
"Today's announcement is not in any way impacting on our plans to open our fabulous new bar and restaurant. This is not in any way a reflection on our commitment, confidence and investment in making Sky By Waters the most exciting new venue to open not only here at Resorts World, but also in the region."
