Red Mist Leisure relaunches pub after biggest-ever investment

Pub company Red Mist Leisure has reopened the Wellington Arms in Stratfield Turgis, which sits on the Duke of Wellington's estate, after a £2.5m refurbishment.

The investment was the firm's biggest yet and sees the pub open its doors again after being closed to the public for the past two years.

Sitting within the Wellington Estate's 7,000 acres of parkland, woodland and farming land on the border between Berkshire and Hampshire, the Wellington Arms aims to be a modern, family-friendly pub and features several small private dining areas, as well as a 160-cover function room with its own entrance. A total of 25 bedrooms are due to open in early 2019.

d chef Jay Williams has created a menu showcasing fresh, seasonal and local British ingredients. Dishes include classics such as fish and chips, seasonal pies, and grilled black pudding served with a poached, free-range egg on a brioche crouton. The pub will also serve an array of local ales, craft beers and gins.

General manager Joe Simkins said: "This pub, with all its offerings and unique location, is a real milestone for Red Mist Leisure as we head into our 15th year. We are also very much enjoying a collaborative approach with the Wellington Estate and forming part of the family's growing portfolio, which includes Wellington Riding; one of the UK's biggest and best-known equestrian centres, Wellington Country Park and the Wellington Farm Shop. We look forward to the challenge in making our pub the heartbeat of the local community."

Red Mist Leisure owns and operates 10 pubs across Surrey and Hampshire.
