Matt Walsh appointed to Red & Blue Restaurants board of directors
Red & Blue Restaurants has appointed its group executive chef Matt Walsh to the company's board of directors.
The Liverpool-based group operates Bacaro, Salt House Tapas, Hanover Street Social and Rocket & Ruby restaurants in the city.
Having previously worked as operations chef for Individual Restaurants' Piccolinos brand, Walsh joined the group in 2014 to head up the opening of Bacaro, offering Italian small plates. He was promoted to group executive chef last year, overseeing the rest of the company's growing portfolio.
His appointment comes ahead of expansion of the Bacaro brand, with Red & Blue planning to open another Bacaro in Manchester, the group's first site outside of Liverpool.
Co-owner Jonathan Poole said: "With a reported like for like sales up 9.2% for the last quarter of 2018 we are confident that under Matt's direction this will be another great addition to the Red & Blue Restaurants Group and a great start to the New Year.
"Matt is now running all four of our different, independently named restaurants in Liverpool, and we remain extremely proud of the high-quality standards we maintain across the group, which is down to the leadership and creativity of Matt and his team."
Red and Blue Restaurants opened its first venture Salt House Tapas in July 2010, specialising in Spanish small plates. The group was co-founded by Paddy Smith and Poole, respectively former group chef and co-founder (with Jason Ellison) of Ego Restaurants, which was sold to restaurateur James Horler in 2008.
