While a Liverpool opening was already in the pipeline, the opening marks the first since global private equity company Trispan bought a majority stake in the firm last June. According to the company's last financial statement, the brand is aiming to open five new locations a year to build its portfolio.
The Liverpool opening will launch on the city's Royal Albert Docks development, which includes offerings from Catalonian independent Lunyalita, Italian chain Gusto and cantina bar Revolucion de Cuba. Brothers Liam and Ellis Barrie of Marram Grass are also looking to expand into the area in 2019.
Founder Saiphin Moore said:"We can't wait to open our doors in Liverpool and are so excited to become part of the city's thriving food scene, I'm already working on some Liverpool specials to launch later in the year.
"As one of the first cities to open up trade links with Asia, we couldn't think of a better place than Liverpool to open our first restaurant outside of London - especially in a location with such enviable views across the historic Royal Albert Docks."
Portfolio manager for Aberdeen Standard Investments, Chris Wright, added:"It's great to be welcoming such an exciting and established London restaurateur to the growing mix of leisure offerings at the Dock.
"The fact they have chosen Royal Albert Dock as their first outside of London reflects on the evolving line-up we are creating. Rosa's Thai Cafe will sit perfectly amongst the current selection of Dockside restaurants, and we anticipate a very positive response from all visitors."
