The Pig in Kent to open on 13 May

The sixth addition to the Pig collection of relaxed country hotels will open its doors to guests on 13 May 2019.

Located on the outskirts of the village of Bridge, near Canterbury, Kent, the Pig at Bridge Place will feature 28 bedrooms located across a 17th-century manor house, a new Coach House, a restored gate lodge and seven Hop Pickers’ Huts.

Interiors are being created by Judy Hutson, wife of Robin Hutson, chief executive of Home Grown Hotels, the operating company of the Pig. Each hotel will feature a kitchen garden with the restaurant only using produce supplied from within a 25-mile radius of the property.

The main Jacobean building was previously home to the Bridge Place Country Club which during the 1970s played host to such bands as Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

Robin Hutson said: “We’ve had a great couple of years, with customers seeming to love what we do. Occupancy is in the mid 90%s in our rural locations and we know from our guests and their invaluable feedback that they want more Pigs. After searching far and wide for truly unique properties, we really are over the moon about our new hotel in Kent.”

The opening of the Pig in Kent is part of a £30m expansion of the brand, which will include new hotels near Arundel, West Susses, and near Padstow, Cornwall. They will join existing Pig hotels in the New Forest; Studland Bay, Dorset; near Bath; Combe, Devon; and Southampton.

Bookings for the new hotel, with rooms from £145, open on 7 February.
