Zoltan Szabo returns to Grand Central Glasgow as exec chef

Zoltan Szabo has returned to Glasgow's Grand Central hotel as executive chef, replacing James Murphy who is returning to the Hilton Glasgow.

Zoltan was part of the four-AA-star, 230-bedroom Grand Central hotel's pre-opening team in 2010 when the hotel was under Principal Hayley's ownership, and was promoted to head chef under chef Murphy before leaving to join Cameron House hotel as senior head chef in 2014.

He worked at Principal's Blythswood Square hotel for the last three years as executive chef. The Grand Central will be rebranding in September following the sale of Principal to Covivio and will be joining InterContinental Hotels Group's Voco brand.

Zoltan hopes to establish four beehives somewhere near the hotel to provide honey for dishes and amenities for hotel guests.

He said: "I am really looking forward to offering classic and contemporary dishes and true hospitality for everyone. I'm very excited to take the Grand Central hotel and its team to the next level."

Paul Bray, general manager of the Grand Central hotel, added: "We have an extremely exciting year ahead of us with plenty of investment in the pipeline. We believe we have appointed one of the most talented and creative chefs in the industry to lead that change for us and our clients can be equally excited to see what Zoltan brings to the table."
