Owner of Greenvale hotel released on bail following St Patrick's Day deaths

The owner of the hotel in Cookstown, County Tyrone, where three teeneagers died on Sunday night has been released on police bail.

Michael McElhatton, 52, of the Greenvale hotel was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of manslaughter. A second man, aged 40, who was arrested at the same time, remains in custody.

The funerals of Lauren Bullock, 17, Morgan Barnard, 17, and Connor Currie, 16, who died outside a St Patrick's Day event at the hotel, are due to take place today.

In an update in their investigations, the Police Service of Northern Ireland said detectives had identified 400 young people who were in the queue or car park outside the hotel.

Detective Chief Superintendent Raymond Murray, head of serious crime branch, said: "82 of those young people have now been interviewed and arrangements have been made to interview 106 others over the next few days.

"Detectives would continue to appeal to anyone who has not yet contacted us to please come forward and in the joint statement from the three families, they have made clear their wish that witnesses come forward and talk to police.

"Detectives can be contacted at the dedicated incident room at Dungannon police station by calling 101, extension 53055."

"With the funerals of Morgan, Connor and Lauren, my thoughts and the thoughts of all my officers are very much with the families. Our job is to get them answers as to why they have lost their children."
