Bistro with bedrooms to launch in Grasmere
A rustic family-run bistro with seven "plush" bedrooms is set to open in Grasmere, Cumbria, this summer.
The Yan will be the latest addition to Broadrayne farm, currently home to holiday cottages and a glamping business.
Broadrayne Farm was bought in 2012 by David and Sally Keighley, who are now spending £500,000 on transforming what was previously a hostel into the Yan, named after the Cumbrian word for the number one.
The new business will be run by the couple's daughter Jess Manley as operations director and her husband Will as executive chef. The Manleys have extensive hospitality experience in Australia, Asia and Europe, latterly in the French Alps where they managed Auberge & Chalets Sur La Montagne, incorporating a 22-bedroom boutique hotel and 27 chalets.
Since returning to the UK, Will has worked as sous chef at the Homeground Café in Windermere and at the Michelin-starred Forest Side in Grasmere, while Jess has worked on the design of the Yan.
The contemporary and industrial look of the bistro will include floor to ceiling windows, exposed steel girders, wood clad panels and slate features.
Meanwhile, the menu will focus on rustic Cumbrian dishes with sharing plates.
The Yan will open in July with room rates from £90 per night.
