Uber Eats has launched in-app pre-ordering alongside its delivery business as part of a trial across Paris and London.
App users will now have the ability to order ‘pick up’ items from more than 2,000 restaurants across the city as the tech firm looks to capitalise on the wealth of business that takes place within bricks and mortar establishments.
It follows an extensive trial of the offering in the USA across 1,000 restaurants in Austin, San Diego, Dallas and Phoenix.
Toussaint Wattinne, general manager of Uber Eats UK and Ireland, said: “We want to support the sustainable growth of the restaurant industry and make our local communities more economically vibrant places to do business.
“That’s why we’re launching a new service to help bricks and mortar restaurants grow their business, while providing users with a quick and convenient way to access food on-the-go. Whether that’s grabbing a coffee on the way to work or skipping the queue during the lunchtime rush.
“Although this is primarily a test and learn opportunity, we look forward to receiving feedback from customers as we seek to optimise the service.”
