Market Halls to open Canary Wharf site

Market Halls is set to open a fourth London food hall at Canary Wharf's Crossrail Place next year.

The street food concept is set to operate across 20,000 sq ft on the ground and dock levels of Cargo, a scheme at Crossrail Place, the new workplace and leisure destination being delivered by Blackstone.

The development, located at the entrance of Canary Wharf's Elizabeth line station, is due to complete in the fourth quarter of 2020.

The new site would have the provision for numerous kitchens, two bars, a coffee shop, outdoor terraces and seating for 500.

The Canary Wharf venue will join halls in Fulham and Victoria, and the UK's largest food hall opening at the former BHS in London's Oxford Street this summer.

Simon Anderson, co-founder and chief operating officer of Market Halls, said: "Canary Wharf has been on our radar from day one as a perfect location for Market Halls. Blackstone's plans for Cargo are very impressive and with the eventual opening of the Elizabeth line we are very excited to have found the perfect site."

Ed Hodgson, UK leasing director for Blackstone property management, added: "Market Halls is the ideal partner for us at Cargo… This sets a new benchmark for the provision of dining experiences in workplaces anywhere in London."

Knight Frank and Cushman & Wakefield are the joint leasing agents for Blackstone; Lightlease acted for Market Halls.
