Gleneagles sees turnover grow as refurbishment continues

The Gleneagles hotel in Auchterarder, Perthshire, saw turnover grow in 2018, as it continued a multimillion-pound refurbishment programme.

The five-red-AA-star, 232-bedroom hotel, which was acquired by Ennismore in 2015, saw turnover reach £55.3m in the 12 months to 31 December 2019, up from £51.2m in 2017.

Operating profits grew from £2.5m to £3.5m, but pre-tax profits fell from £505,000 in 2017 to £55,000 last year.

The performance was described within documents filed with Companies House as "in line with expectations".

The refurbishment programme recently saw new event and meeting spaces unveiled. The refurbishment of the F&B offering at the Dormy clubhouse is continuing with the gold shop and bedrooms also to receive attention as the hotel looks to enhance its position as a "glorious playground".

Ennismore acquired Gleneagles in 2015 for around £200m.
