Chris Hull appointed general manager of Hotel Football

Chris Hull has been appointed general manager of Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville's Hotel Football in Manchester following the departure of Paul Walsh.

Walsh left the 133-bedroom property in January after three years for the same role at the Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert. Hull joins Hotel Football with experience as general manager of properties including the Mercure Hotel Chester and most recently at the 225-bedroom Mercure Atlantic Tower hotel in Liverpool, where he oversaw the £2.5m refurbishment of the hotel.

Hotel Football, situated across the road from Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium, is managed by GG Hospitality and is jointly owned by former teammates Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Philip Neville and Nicky Butt, together with Singaporean businessman Peter Lim.

The property features ground-floor restaurant Cafe Football and a number of bespoke meeting and events spaces, including a rooftop football pitch and Old Trafford Supporters Club in the lower ground floor.

Hull said: "I've lived in Manchester for the last 20 years so to be given the opportunity and challenge to grow Hotel Football, reputationally and financially, as well as further improve the guest experience is an honour."

Winston Zahra, GG Hospitality chief executive, added: "Chris brings with him a wealth of experience of managing hotels around the UK and he is passionate about hospitality and football. Hotel Football is a unique and exciting property and with our recent conversion to a Tribute Portfolio hotel within the Marriott International portfolio, the hotel is ready to be taken to the next level. The results to date have been excellent and the hotel has a very good reputation in the market. We are confident Chris will lead the team within the property and improve all areas over the years ahead."
