Elior rolls out Cheatah pizza delivery concept for students and sailors

Foodservice firm Elior has rolled out on-site pizza delivery concept Cheatah across two of its contracts following a successful trial.

The firm now offers a range of fresh pizzas across the University of Roehampton and HM Naval Base Portsmouth, with a view to launch the concept across universities and business and industry sites.

Cheatah began as a trial at the south-west London university at the start of the 2018-19 academic year. The firm has sold 5,000 pizzas across the site's campus and halls, with 79% of responding customers saying they would refer the concept to a friend.

Jerry Woods, director of estates and facilities at the university, said: "I am delighted Elior is always looking for opportunities to develop its offer to students and staff. Cheatah is one example of how it is looking to meet the needs of students at the university to ensure that there are additional food offers on campus during the evening, coupled with the fact that it's offering a delivery service to students in halls, which provides a complementary service to that offered by the high street."

At HMNB Portsmouth, the trial saw evening sales double, contributing to a year-on-year overall sales boost of 45%.

Matthew Joblin, offer development manager at Elior, said: "We created Cheatah so our customers could enjoy freshly cooked, high-quality and affordable meals on demand.

"Working with chefs and nutritionists, we developed a menu focusing on best-seller combinations from the high street. In fact, our range rivals mainstream vendors on value for money, averaging at just £10 spend per head. What's more, the popular service has contributed to student employment levels, proving a cost-effective endeavour all round."
