We love…

Just because you overindulged over Christmas, it doesn’t mean you need to deprive yourself of all pleasure in January. In fact, most of you probably worked like dogs and are now in need of some tender loving care. It’s always good to start a new year with the best intentions, however, so here are a few suggestions to make being good easy. Next week we’ll provide some ideas on where to eat, drink and keep the conscience clear, too.

The Lugger hotel on the Cornish coast is offering a five-day detox. The programme is designed to help you start losing weight, eliminate toxins from your body and renew energy levels. You can expect Bio Detox treatments, massages, facial and pedicure, Repechage Vita Cura bath soaks and spa cuisine based on the South Beach Diet. When you’re not relaxing, take a vigorous walk along the beach and breathe in some fresh air.
Cost: £1,300 (two adults sharing).

The Mandarin Oriental in London promises to cater for all your needs, in exquisite surroundings. Guests are encouraged to book time, not a treatment, so each visit is highly personalised. Arrive at least 40 minutes early to appreciate the Sanarium, vitality pool, Amethyst Crystal Steam Room and Colour Therapy Relaxation Room. Then move on to a purifying herbal linen wrap, a detoxifying Sea of Senses or a range of scrubs or massages and drift into heaven.
Cost: From £90 an hour, minimum two hours for non-resident guests. Individual treatments £45-£455.

The St David’s hotel in Cardiff also has an enticing spa. Go for a spa detox package to “purify and rejuvenate both body and mind”, and ease away tension and eliminate toxins. Treatments include a detoxifying aromatherapy massage, algae wrap or rebalancing facial. Stay for two nights and you can move on to a salt-and-oil scrub or a marine hydrotherapy bath.
Cost: From £200 per person (one night), or individual treatments from £30.
