Durham operator buys local Travelodge restaurant

Steve Anderson is the new owner of Bud Bigallow's Bar & Grill, which is part of the Travelodge hotel in Gilesgate, Durham.

Anderson, who previously owned the Age Bar & Kitchen and Café Rock Bar/Nightclub in Durham, intends to run the property as an Italian restaurant called Chevita.

Previous owner Stan Roberts, who ran the restaurant for three years, will now focus on running the Sunderland branch of Bud Bigallow's.

The 130-seat restaurant with bar and sun terrace occupies a single-storey stone building in the city's conservation area and shares a car park with Travelodge.

The Newcastle office of Christie + Co sold the leasehold off an asking price of £150,000.
