Haunted food-led Yorkshire pub changes hands

Experienced pub operators Susan Turner and Alan Hopkins have bought the former coaching inn which has become a drive-to destination in the West Yorkshire village of Darrington, near Pontefract.

Turner has worked in pubs in the Doncaster area for 30 years while Hopkins gained experience at RAF-run bars.

The property retains a number of character features, such as exposed beams, open fireplaces and an original oven range.

It provides a 35-seat dining area with a round wooden bar, a more intimate 15-seat dining area, an upstairs function room for 40 people, a beer patio, and three-bedroom owners' accommodation.

The Leeds office Christie + Co was seeking offers of £155,000 for the leasehold, which runs until June 2012.
