Marston's buys Dorset freehouse

Marston's (formerly Wolverhampton & Dudley) has snapped up the Inn on the Chase, a destination food venue in the Dorset hamlet of Cashmoor.

The freehouse is a local landmark on the A354 Salisbury-to-Blandford Forum road and is set among chalk downlands on the southern edge of Cranborne Chase, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The character property with an exposed inglenook fireplace provides a public bar, a gaming area, a 50-seat restaurant, four letting bedrooms and a manager's flat.

The large grounds contain two trade gardens, a paddock and a detached brick and flint barn converted to provide two-bedroom holiday accommodation.

The Winchester office of Christie + Co sold the freehold off a guide price of £845,000 on behalf of Peter and Nicky Gregory.
