New licensees for Mid-Devon country pub

Tony and Lisa Churchill are the new licensees of the Merriemeade freehouse in the Mid-Devon village of Sampford Peverell.

The Churchills, who have some experience of the licensed trade, have taken on a new chef with local connections and experience at some of London's top restaurants.

Originally built as an 18th century gentleman's residence, the Grade II-listed building provides five en-suite bedrooms, a bar, a 20-seat restaurant, 30-seat dining room/function room and 20-seat private dining room

The private accommodation includes three bedrooms and two lounge/living areas.

Outside, the business has a trade garden with children's play equipment, a barbecue area, seating for 30 customers, and space for 25 cars.

Stonesmith of Exeter sold the free-of-tie lease off an asking price of £65,000.
