Oriental restaurateur buys Exeter inn

Heavitree Brewery has sold the Cowley Bridge Inn, Exeter, to local operator David Jim, who once ran the city's Magic Wok restaurant.

Jim, who also owns the Tong Fong distributor of Oriental food and catering supplies in the South West, is converting the landmark inn into an Oriental restaurant and takeaway specialising in pan-Asian cuisine.

The three-story property is on the busy A396 Cowley Bridge Road on Tiverton Road some two miles from the city centre.

Facilities include an open-plan main bar and restaurant with seating for 34 diners, a beer garden and car park, and four-bedroom owners' accommodation.

The Exeter office of Christie + Co sold the freehold off a guide price of £450,000.
