Smallest pub in York on the market

06 December 2006

The pub, at 53 Fossgate, inhabits an historic Grade II-listed building from the 1790s and boasts the smallest and the oldest untouched interior in the city (including original Edwardian wall panelling from 1903).

A two-storey, mid-terrace property, the Blue Bell has just 40 metres of floor space which is divided into a 16-seat main bar and a 20-seat lounge bar. The first floor contains two-bedroom accommodation for the owner.

It has won a number of CAMRA awards for its range of real ales, and its list of national accolades includes The Morning Advertiser's Best Fundraising Pub 2006 and Waitrose's Top 6 Boozers in the UK. At a more local level, it has been named Regional Pub of the Year and York Pub of the Year.

The Leeds office of Christie + Co is seeking offers in the region of £120,000 for the leasehold.
