Stirling couple buy Callander hotel

Fraser and Isobel Mitchell have bought Abbotsford Lodge in South Perthshire which lies on the A85 road leading into the country town of Callander.

The couple have moved from Stirling where they ran a tearoom and garden to take on the 17-bedroom Victorian villa that caters for both tourists and commercial travellers.

They plan to refurbish the public areas, including the 50-seat conservatory restaurant, and to upgrade the bedrooms and bathrooms into luxury accommodation.

The hotel sold for close to the £450,000 price sought by the Glasgow office of Colliers Robert Barry.
