Willen Lake Café/Bar & Kitchen – request for proposal

The Parks Trust is seeking an entrepreneurial hospitality and catering partner who can deliver outstanding experiences to customers at the Willen Lake Bar & Kitchen in Milton Keynes.

The Bar & Kitchen is an integral part of the Willen Lake visitor experience and an attractive destination in its own right.

About Willen Lake

Willen Lake is the most popular park in the fast-growing city of Milton Keynes. It is open all year round and attracts up to one million visitors each year, many coming to participate in paid-for, family-friendly activities including water sports, a splash park and one of the biggest high ropes courses in the South of England.

There's also plenty to do for free including a large outdoor play area, fishing and accessible leisure routes with wildlife and scenery to enjoy.

Willen Lake hosts a range of popular events including the region's leading dog festival, funfairs, weekly Parkruns, charity events and much more.

Leisure activities at Willen Lake are managed by Whitecap Leisure Ltd, a trading subsidiary of the Parks Trust. The Parks Trust is an independent, self-funded charity that cares for and maintains 6,000 acres of green space in Milton Keynes.

Located on the eastern edge of Milton Keynes, Willen Lake is part of a green corridor which extends into Milton Keynes city centre.

In 2021, the Parks Trust completed phase two of its development plan at Willen Lake. This included the construction of a new Watersports Centre which houses the Willen Lake Bar & Kitchen. This development redirected footfall at the lake onto a central hub and created a place for visitors to eat and drink whilst taking in the best views across the water.

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced entrepreneurial Café Partner, under a multi-year lease/ concession agreement for this 300m2 purpose-built, licenced café and casual dining restaurant, with external terraces and views across the lake.
