The debut of A La Carte, a show aimed at the top end of the restaurant market, has been shelved because it could not attract enough financial backing.
The event, which was to have been staged in October at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London, was positioned as an upmarket rival to the Restaurant Show. Single Market Events (which once ran the Bar Show and is behind the Good Food Show, London Fashion Week and the RSVP show for party organisers) was organising A La Carte with its media partner, Restaurant Magazine.
Sales executive Ben Colman said: "We felt there was a need for a more specialist show than the Restaurant Show, which is more mainstream and mass-market."
