Acorn winner Charlotte Karadag appointed deputy GM at Gloucestershire Hilton

Charlotte Karadag, the former rooms division manager at De Vere Tortworth Court, has moved to Double Tree by Hilton Cheltenham-Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, where she has taken up the role of deputy general manager.

Speaking to The Caterer, Karadag, who won an Acorn last year, said: “My ambition is to be a general manager by 30 so, naturally, the next step would be deputy general manager and, when I saw this [role] come up, it was perfect.”

Karadag said her move to the 148-bedroom hotel on the outskirts of Cheltenham was also driven by her desire to “get a bigger brand experience” with the likes of Hilton. She will begin her role on 10 August.

She added: “I’m really, really looking forward to the different training opportunities. But from De Vere, they obviously taught me everything… they taught me things like leadership. So, to be able to take that with me and take all my knowledge and how I’ve been treated at De Vere, I like to take that to my next step; I think it’s very important.”

Karadag said much of her personal and professional development has been shaped by her time at Tortworth Court. “I’ll always be grateful”, she added.

Karadag joined De Vere Tortworth Court in 2019 as front desk receptionist and quickly progressed to reception supervisor, taking on a further three roles before her promotion to rooms division manager in 2024, the same year she won Front of House Manager of the Year at the 2024 Hotel Cateys and a spot amongst the Master Innholders. 

When receiving her Acorn, the double-award winner said her ambition to become a general manager is what “drives me to constantly seek out new challenges, whilst also learning and improving with every situation which may arise”.
