Adopt a School Trust receives funding from the Savoy Educational Trust

The Adopt a School Trust (AAS) has secured more funding from the Savoy Educational Trust as it celebrates its 35th anniversary.

This will allow AAS, which was founded by the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts (RACA), to continue providing food education to school children across the UK.

The Savoy Educational Trust has supported the programme for nearly three decades.

AAS works closely with schools that have a high proportion of students from disadvantaged backgrounds and offers interactive sessions led by professional chefs focusing on cooking and nutrition.

Over the course of the 2023-24 academic year, AAS’ regional chef team delivered over 20,000 sessions on food education while also supporting secondary school students with masterclasses and mentorship opportunities for industry competitions such as FutureChef.

Gemma Hopwood, programme manager at the Adopt a School Trust, said: “This funding allows us to continue providing children with essential cookery skills and knowledge to make informed dietary choices, while also introducing them to the vibrant world of hospitality.
