Alistair Macrow (pictured) has been promoted from global chief marketing officer at McDonald's to chief executive of its UK & Ireland business, following the promotion of Paul Pomroy to corporate senior vice-president of international operated markets, having held the UK CEO role for the last six years.

The role of global chief marketing officer will be taken over by Morgan Flatley, currently chief marketing and digital customer experience officer for McDonald's USA. According to the company, the appointments will be effective from 1 November.

Macrow joined McDonald's in 2007 as UK marketing director after 15 years in marketing and business leadership roles with brands including M&S and Blockbuster.

Posting on LinkedIn, he said: "I'm excited, proud and honoured to take on this new role leading McDonald's UK & Ireland region. Throughout my time in international and global roles at McDonald's, I have continued to follow the progression of the UK&I region, and I'm looking forward to building on the great momentum that Paul Pomroy and team have led."
