Andrew McPherson steps down as GM of Grantley Hall after six years

Andrew McPherson has stepped down from his role as general manager of Grantley Hall in Ripon, Yorkshire, after six years.

McPherson was part of the team that oversaw the multimillion-pound redevelopment of the Grade II-listed country house before it opened as a hotel in spring 2019.

He previously worked at Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa in Bath, Skibo Castle in Dornoch Firth and the Swinton Estate in North Yorkshire. He also spent ten years at Rocco Forte hotels.

McPherson announced his departure in a LinkedIn post and told The Caterer: "After spending six very exciting years at Grantley Hall, new opportunities are now beckoning. However, what has been achieved has been quite spectacular and this is all down to the sheer hard work and dedication of all the ladies and gentlemen, past and present.

"Working closely with the Sykes family to start what they hope will become an iconic British Hotel has been engaging and rewarding. It has been a huge challenge to deliver a project to their expectations and I am extremely proud of what the family and my team and I have achieved - Grantley is finding its own place in the market."

He added: "I will always have very fond memories of the shared experiences – ranging from the design and build stage, through opening to hosting some of the most prestigious events in Yorkshire but now the time has come to handover the baton for the next chapter in Grantley Hall's development."

Applications to the role are encouraged over the next week and should be directed towards McPherson via LinkedIn or the hotel.
