Austin’s Michelin-starred Interstellar BBQ to land at the Ned

The Ned hotel in London is to host the one-Michelin-starred Interstellar BBQ at its Electric Bar & Diner outlet throughout September.

It is the first time pitmaster John Bates has brought his celebrated BBQ techniques from Texas to the UK.

The restaurant has partnered with East London based From the Ashes to develop a series of dishes that fuse Texas tradition with modern pitmaster flair. The menu, which will be available from 5 September, will include the likes of peach tea glazed pork belly, pulled lamb shoulder, confit duck leg, beef short rib, and chilli and cheese sausage.

Bates said: “It is the first time ever that I will be bringing my BBQ style, smoke and flavour to the UK. This is a great opportunity for BBQ enthusiasts to try authentic Texan BBQ right in the heart of the City of London.”

From the Ashes added that they were excited to be working alongside the acclaimed chef. They added: “We have been admirers of John’s approach to BBQ and smoking for some time so are looking forward to teaming up with one of the best.”

The Ned’s F&B director Jack Cohn added: “We are thrilled to be inviting two legendary BBQ experts to the Ned this September. It is promising to be quite the event.”
