Bromley Old Town Hall hotel to open this month

Brama, a 23-bedroom boutique hotel that is the last part of the Bromley Old Town Hall regeneration project, is set to open on 29 May.

The Caterer originally reported on the plans in 2014 and a 2017 opening had been planned..

The new lifestyle hotel in south London is part of the major renovation of Bromley Old Town Hall following its addition to the Heritage at Risk register in 2009.

It will be owned and operated by Castleforge, which also owns the Abbey hotel in Bath. Rooms will start from £109 per night on a room only basis.

The Old Town Hall officially opened in 1907 and has since played host to the wedding of David Bowie, the local seat of government, and provided shelter in the event of a nuclear fallout during World War II. Its foundations were laid in 1906 and it was extended multiple times before becoming vacant.

The site is also now home to flexible workspace by Clockwise and all-day restaurant Dorothy and Marshall, located in the building's former courthouse.

The venue is overseen by Alexandra Livesey, managing director of Brama and chief operating officer of Clockwise.

She said: "Bromley Old Town Hall has such a rich heritage, we discovered amazing architectural details which we've worked tirelessly to restore carefully and sensitively while introducing practical modern elements.

"We wanted to bring the building back to life, position it once again as a space for the community and local area while welcoming guests from further afield to show all that Bromley has to offer.

"The opening of Brama hotel as part of this mixed use scheme is an exciting addition and there's nothing else like it in the area."
