Brixton restaurant worker in coma following assault outside workplace

A London restaurant worker is in hospital in an induced coma after being seriously assaulted outside his workplace last week.

The victim was working at a restaurant in Ferndale Road on Friday 2 December when two unknown men approached him and engaged in conversation with him just after 11pm, according to the Metropolitan Police.

One of the men then punched him in the face, causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement. The two suspects ran off in the direction of Nursery Road.

Police were called just after midnight on Saturday 3 December and the London Ambulance Service attended. The victim, in his 20s, was taken to hospital with "possible life-changing injuries".

No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue.
