Butcombe shakes up pubs division leadership with new role

Butcombe Group has named Alice Bowyer as managing director of its pubs and inns in a newly-created role.

The appointment follows Butcombe’s managed pub and inns being the “standout” division in its most recent full-year results – with like-for-like sales up 8% and EBITDA up 23%.

Bowyer has been at Butcombe for a decade, having joined as executive chef before progressing to senior roles, most recently as director of food and drink.

In her new role Bowyer will be tasked with leading the pub group’s managed house division “through its next phase of development, with a clear focus on delivering a more integrated guest experience and continued commercial growth.”

Alongside Bowyer’s new role, Butcombe has also promosted Maria Bishop as head of drinks and retail, while Jasper Prickett has been promoted to head of food.

The pub group’s chief operating officer Jayson Perfect said: “Alice’s new role reflects not only her exceptional track record within the business but also the breadth of leadership and strategic insight she brings.

“Alongside this, the promotions across our team demonstrate our continued commitment to recognising and developing talent as we grow.”

Butcombe completed refinancing in April to pursue its long-term growth strategy, which included converting 20 sites across its 118-strong pub portfolio to its boutique inns model.
