Canteen Collective launches £400,000 investment round

London-based sustainable café chain Canteen Collective has launched a £400,000 crowdfunding campaign to fund its expansion plans.

Founded in 2019 in Notting Hill by former commander in the British Army Tim Grant (pictured), Canteen Collective has since grown to a further three locations in Putney, Ealing and Sevenoaks in Kent.

The business is on target to turnover £2.5m this year and expects to more than double its revenue by 2025.

Some of the funds from the crowdfunding campaign, which currently stands at nearly £230,000 pledged by 43 investors, will be used to open two new outlets in London over the next year. Further investment will be directed toward raising the presence of Canteen Collective at major events and festivals, as well as expanding its B2B coffee sales and e-commerce.

Grant said the core aim of the business was "people, produce and the planet" and that he was "focused on expanding this mission".

He added: "With a growing demand for high quality, ethically sourced food and drink and rising consumer expectations over hospitality providers committing to sustainable practices, we believe there is huge scope to expand the Canteen Collective brand across London, the south-east and beyond."

Key initiative undertaken by Canteen Collective include the planting of a tree for every kilo of coffee sold, resulting in the offsetting of 150% of its carbon footprint.

The business is also a member of the global network 1% for the Planet, and contributes one per cent of its annual revenue to support accredited projects that tackle environmental issues.
