Castle Hotel Windsor set for £9.5m refurbishment

Sutton Hotel Collection has announced plans for a £9.5m refurbishment of the Castle Hotel Windsor, which is scheduled for completion in late 2026.

The multi-million-pound renovation will start in November under the guidance of interior designers 3DReid, among others.

It will see a redesign of the ground floor, the launch of a new British brasserie, and a refit of all the rooms.

There will also be a significant investment in hotel staff to ensure the team are well equipped to look after guests.

It comes roughly a year after the Francis hotel in Bath, another Sutton Hotel Collection property, underwent a £13m refurbishment that saw the addition of a thermal spa with three treatment rooms.

Shaun Bowles, cluster general manager, said: “This £9.5m transformation is more than just a renovation - we will be fully repositioning the Castle Hotel within the Windsor market and investing heavily within our brand, our people and our guest journey.

“We’ll be empowering the team to be imaginative and curate personalised experiences for the guest. We will also be focusing on delivering a first-class British restaurant and elevating our afternoon tea to appeal to the 12 million tourists that visit Windsor every year.”

The Castle Hotel Windsor dates back to 1528 and is located opposite Windsor Castle. It offers 108 bedrooms and a dedicated conference centre featuring 10 meeting rooms for up to 400 delegates.

The Sutton Hotel Collection was launched in 2022 and includes the Athenaeum Hotel & Residences, London, the Francis Hotel Bath, and the Castle Hotel Windsor.
