Chef Ruth Hansom announced as Love British Ambassador

Ruth Hansom, head chef of Pomona's in London's Notting Hill, has been named a Love British Food Ambassador.

Working alongside a host of other Love British Food ambassadors, including Raymond Blanc, Liz Earle, Chris Bavin, Simon Hulstone and Phil Howard, Hansom will work with Love British Food to provide ideas and resources and champion British produce.

The Young National Chef of the Year winner has showcased her passion for locally sourced British produce throughout her career, exemplified in her new menus at Pomona's, with sharing dishes from the land, sea and earth.

Alexia Robinson, founder of Love British Food and British Food Fortnight, said: "Now in its 18th year, British Food Fortnight has been popular and powerful in inspiring people around the country. Last year in excess of 1.5 million British meals were served during the fortnight, through schools, universities, hospitals, care homes and corporates. More than 3,000 shops, restaurants and pubs took part, in addition to thousands of events in villages and towns.

"Changing times however bring both challenges and opportunities for Britain's farmers and food producers and we are delighted to welcome Ruth Hansom to join the team to lead the way in celebrating and promoting British food."

Hansom commented: "I am honoured to have been asked to come on board. I truly believe it is our responsibility as chefs to source ingredients locally, seasonally and sustainably. I think it's important to support small British suppliers who are really taking the time to give us such great quality."
