Chef Spencer Metzger teases new London opening

Chef Spencer Metzger has hinted at plans for a new opening in London.

On an Instagram story, the chef who was brought in by Jason Atherton to head up the two-Michelin-starred Row on 5 in London’s Mayfair, said: “Looking to build an exceptional team for a new opening in London. Looking for all roles front of house and kitchen.”

He subsequently encouraged prospective applicants to get in touch via his Row on 5 email or to leave him a direct message on Instagram.

No further details of the site were revealed, except for a playful tag that stated ‘secret location’.

The announcement comes roughly 18 months after Metzger launched Row on 5 with Jason Atherton on Savile Row, which secured two Michelin stars at the awards in February.

Prior to that, Metzger was based at the two-Michelin-starred the Ritz in London’s Mayfair for 13 years. He joined as a commis chef and made his way up to head chef in 2021.

He was also crowned the 2019 Roux Scholar,  2021 Acorn Award winner and 2022 Great British Menu Champion of Champions.
