Christian Louboutin to design Claridge's 2019 Christmas tree

Christian Louboutin has been revealed as the designer of what has become the most-anticipated Christmas tree in a London hotel.

The iconic French fashion designer (pictured) will unveil his creation at Claridge's hotel on 10 November. He will follow in the footsteps of previous designers, including Diane von Furstenberg, Sir Jony Ive of Apple, Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel, Christopher Bailey of Burberry and Alber Elbaz of Lanvin, who have all been invited to design the tree over the past 10 years for the front lobby of the five-red-AA-star, 190-bedroom hotel.

Louboutin said: "I have been a long-time guest of Claridge's and consider it my second home when in London. It is an honour to be invited to design the Claridge's Christmas tree, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

"Claridge's is one of the most magical destinations, with the tree being one of the city's highlights at Christmas. I am glad to bring a little piece of Paris to such an iconic London landmark."

Claridge's co-owner Paddy McKillen added: "Christmas has always been a truly special time of year for us here at Claridge's and we are delighted to have Christian bring his festive magic to the hotel. This year, we promise some extra-special touches and, of course, a few surprises."

Louboutin, who has operated his Paris-based business since 1991, is known for his red-soled, lacquered shoes.
