Manchester’s the Alan hotel has made two senior appointments to its leadership team, with Claire McGinnis announced as the new general manager.
McGinnis will lead the team at the 137-bedroom hotel, which has just undergone a significant refurbishment and become a partner with Manchester Art Gallery.
Before joining the design-led Alan, McGinnis was general manager at Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly, as week as hotel manager for INNSiDE by Melia in Liverpool. Prior to that she was operations manager at DoubleTree Chester and Crowne Plaza Chester.
McGinnis said: “I’m thrilled to have joined the Alan, it’s such a beautiful hotel with an abundance of character and the opportunities for growth are endless! My focus is always the team – I believe that if you put the right people in the right places, give them the support and tools to do their job, everything else will work itself out. We’ve got a really strong team here and I can’t wait to see what we can do together.”
Elizabeth Morris has also joined the hotel as sales manager of a newly-expanded team. Prior to joining the Alan Morris spend a decade in UK travel at Sykes Cottages and two years as head of events at Hotal, managing high-profile client accounts across various industries including law, beauty, fashion, finance and tech.
Morris added: “Building strong partnerships and creating meaningful connections are key priorities for me, and I am excited about engaging with local businesses, organisations, and industry networks to showcase everything the Alan has to offer. I particularly enjoy networking and look forward to developing new relationships that support the hotel’s continued growth and success.”
The Alan is set in a repurposed Victorian warehouse opposite Manchester Art Gallery, having opened on Princess Street in 2022. It features an open-plan kitchen, bar and coworking space on the ground floor, and 137 bedrooms across its six upper floors.
