De Savary family put the Cary Arms & Spa up for sale for £4.5m

The Cary Arms & Spa in Devon’s Babbacombe Bay has been put on the market off a guide price of £4.5m.

The 18-room seaside hotel has been owned by the de Savary family since 2006 and has been extensively refurbished and extended over the last 20 years. This has seen the addition of six beach hut rooms with sea views, two beach suites, spa facilities and a waterfall hydrotherapy pool.

Knight Frank is marketing the main hotel building, while a collection of sea view cottages are available to purchase by separate negotiation.

The Cary Arms has been overseen by Lana de Savary and her two daughters since the death of her husband, well-known hotelier Peter de Savary, in 2022.

Lana said: “The Cary Arms has been a true passion project for us. It has been an honour to restore and re-imagine such a breathtaking and unique seaside property. This feels like the right moment to step back and allow new owners to take it to even greater heights.”

The de Savary family’s other properties include the Beachcroft hotel in Bognor Regis and the Parkway Hotel & Spa in Cwmbran, Torfaen.
