Dongnae and Ember at No 5 among April Michelin Guide additions

Korean restaurant Dongnae in Bristol and Ember at No 5 in Cardiff are among eight new restaurants that have been added to the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland’s listings this month.

These are the first restaurants to be selected following the Michelin Guide Ceremony 2025, which was held at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in February.

Husband-and-wife duo Duncan Robertson and Kyu Jeong Jeon launched Dongnae, meaning ‘neighbourhood’ in Korean, in September last year with the aim of bringing contemporary Korean cuisine to Bristol’s Redland. Michelin praised the stylish bistro as a “terrific Korean eatery” that is “authentic, complex and bursting at the seams with exuberant flavours”.

Dave Killick and Tommy Heaney’s latest Welsh restaurant, Ember at No 5, which opened in December 2024, was described by Michelin as a “wonderfully fresh-feeling spot with airy, uncluttered décor and cooking to match”, while Gordon Ramsay’s Restaurant Gordon Ramsay High atop London’s 22 Bishopsgate was celebrated for its “signature top-quality cooking”.

Michelin updates its recommendations each month based on its inspectors’ travels, with any additions highlighted by a ‘New’ symbol.

It does not confirm if the restaurants will receive a star, Bib Gourmand or any other awards until the formal Michelin Guide ceremony.
