Entries open for AICR UK’s World’s Best Receptionist 2026 competition

Entries are open for the AICR UK Receptionist of the Year competition, the award that celebrates the industry’s finest talent in the field of hotel reception.

The Receptionist of the Year competition, which is supported by the Master Innholders, consists of various stages where skills will be judged by industry experts against other hotel receptionists from all over the UK. The final will take place in November 2026 in central London.

The winner will go on to represent the country at an international level in Malta in March 2027 to compete for the David Campbell trophy and coveted title of the ‘World’s Best Receptionist’.

Rachael Stevens, who sits on the international board as head of AICR talent and co-ordinates the competition, said: “Now in its 31st year, we’re delighted to launch the search once again for the UK’s Best Receptionist, inviting hotel front office leaders and hoteliers across the country to recognise and champion their most exceptional front office talent for this prestigious industry accolade.

“This award celebrates the professionalism, dedication and remarkable impact of reception teams who serve as the heartbeat of the guest experience. The successful UK winner will earn the honour of representing the country on the global stage, travelling to Malta in March 2027 to compete internationally for the coveted title of World’s Best Receptionist.”

She added that the “calibre of talent continues to rise” each year, “reflecting the extraordinary standards of hospitality professionals across the sector”.

Stevens, who is also operations manager at the Manor House in Chippenham, Wiltshire, said: “At a time when the hospitality industry continues to navigate significant challenges, it feels more important than ever to celebrate the individuals who consistently go above and beyond.”

Alongside the trophy, the AICR UK Receptionist of the Year 2026 winner will receive other prizes including a free online professional development workshop, participation in the AICR UK Mentorship scheme, and one year’s Junior Membership to the AICR UK.

The closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday 28 August 2026.

The nominator must be a paid-up member of the AICR UK section and currently work at the same hotel.

The AICR (Amicale Internationale des Chefs de Réception et Sous Directeurs des Grands Hôtels), the International Association for Deputy Managers and Front Office Managers of Luxury Hotels, was founded in 1964 in France by the chefs de réception of several hotels.
