Feathers hotel opens new restaurant

The Feathers hotel in Ludlow has completed the second phase of its refurbishment with the opening of its new restaurant, Plume@Feathers.

Group operations director, Jason Hiley said: "The official opening of the restaurant marks a key stage in the progress of the circa £2m refurbishment and our aim is to establish the Feathers as a dining destination for the whole region. We have an incredible catering team and head chef in place, so are now focused on achieving our two AA rosettes within the next six months."

Crest Hotels bought the 40-bedroom property in Shropshire in December 2018 after it fell into administration following a fatal outbreak of Legionnaires' disease two years ago.

The firm is now investing more than £2m to reposition the hotel, which includes an aesthetic makeover to public areas, rooms and the function suite, as well as completely new plumbing throughout. The group partly reopened the property with the relaunch of its bar area as a 34-cover tea room in May.

The final phase of the refurbishment, which will include plumbing, will see 22 bedrooms open in December, and the other 20 bedrooms open by February 2020.
